Waylon (12): We brought Waylon home from Shelby Park after he was let in the gate, then everyone refused to help him because they had '1 dog & couldn't have another.' Stamp sucker on our foreheads & send us home with 4 dogs.  Friendly, passive, & housetrained, he became part of the Minunno Misfits. We look back & think, "we should have kept him & not gotten into rescue." But that would have been selfish, & he found a terrific home in New England thanks to American Lab Rescue.  We still get updates on Wayl who loves to wail, how big he's gotten, and what a great brother he is to their poodle & kitties. His best friend is their blind kitty; they are buddies & take care of each other.
A PET'S 10 COMMANDMENTS
1.  My life is likely to last 10-15 years.  Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2.  Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3.  Place your trust in me.  It is crucial for my well-being.
4.  Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment.  You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5.  Talk to me.  Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6.  Be aware that, however you treat me & even though I live in the present, I will never forget it.
7.  Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could bite you, yet I choose not to hurt you.
8.  Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me.  Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, or I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9.  Please take care of me when I grow old.
10.  On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch.  Don't make me face this alone.  Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.
Trixie > Dakota (74):  Dakota was at our door one Tuesday morning, checking herself into Camp Nov. '08.  Later that week, we took 3 pups from Whites Creek Pike, basically biting off more than we could chew.  Bless our fantastic friends, Lisa & Eric were happy to welcome her into their home to love & train while we found her a furever home.  Low & behold, they fell in love with her!  Dakota enjoys trips to the dog park & has excelled with her training thanks to all the time & efforts her mom & dad put in with her.
Sam Shepherd (83):  From Pikeville KY's animal shelter came Sam Shepherd.  After seeing his photo & plea for help, he checked into Camp to get vetted, neutered, & ready for adoption.  It only took a few weeks to find a fabulous young lady, Jennifer, who chose Sam Shepherd as her first furever dog!  Way to go, Sam Shepherd!  You hit the jackpot!  UPDATE: Sam tested heartworm negative Nov. '09!
Silly Sadie (95):  Sadie checked into Camp May '09 after being abandoned in a Columbia suburb & living in a family's backyard for 2 months.  An email reached us, she was set to go to the high-kill animal control if someone wouldn't take her.  Enter Silly Sadie at Camp Chaos.  She found a fantastic home up North thanks to American Lab Rescue.  She now has her very own family to give her 'happily ever after.'  Sadie's family have nothing but good things to say about their baby & we are so thankful she is living the wonderful life she deserves!
Sheba (25):  My big bunny showed up as an emaciated stray with a massive mammary tumor Oct. '07.  One of our 1st rescues, we had the help of St. Francis Animal Welfare Group with her vetting & Give A Dog A Home with socializing her.  After 11 months at Camp, a fabulous couple adopted her.  Sheebs enjoys spending time at Red Rover, the dog park, & visiting Camp Chaos in her freetime. She's a great big sis to the many foster siblings her parents have saved from the streets since they adopted her.  The biggest and most beautiful girl is lucky, happy, & pampered!
Juno (98):  Juno was one of the many pups abandoned on the streets of East Nashville.  The Captain was itching for some puppy love June '09 & a friend of CC3 needed a foster home.  It was a perfect match!  Adelade did a great job being Mommy to our confident & smart little girl.  After being vaccinated for 2 weeks, Precious Friends transported Juno to North Shore Animal League for her spay & adoption.  Her first fosters are great friends of CC3 & have rescued many more since Juno.  Now they get their fosters adopted locally with the help of East C.A.N.
Silly Lillie (94):  Little Woman had been abused, starved, & neglected by her owners & was taken by Rutherford County P.A.W.S. where she stayed for many weeks.  When Captain realized she would be euthanized, Little Woman checked into Camp & became Miss Silly Lillie, the perfect foster pup.  While she was sponsored by & adoptable thanks to Great Dogs Rescue of New England, she was adopted locally by friends of Camp Chaos.  Our silly girl is part of a big family of 4-legged siblings, including Dakota, her BFF.
Grants for Good People
Camp Chaos 37206 no longer will have adoptions as our primary function.  While we will continue to post the dogs in our home for adoption, going forward we are  unable to have courtesy postings or intake new animals for adoption.  Unfortunately, we have full-time jobs and there just aren't enough hours in the day or energy in our bodies to accomodate the time & toil required to run an adoption agency correctly.  And we definitely don't want to do it wrong since the animals would be the ones who suffered if anything went awry.  There once was a time where CC3's board dreamed of having a shelter & staff, but the game plan changed.  CC3's primary function now is as a resource that provides information as well as financial support for Good People stepping up to help the animals in need in our community.

Now instead of the money going only toward the adoptable dogs, the money goes to Good People who have rescued an animal & need help with the vet bills before they are rehomed; the money goes to Good People who want to save an animal from a shelter but need help paying the pull fee; and the money goes to families who need food or supplies for fosters & furever pets alike.  If you have found an animal & would like to be considered for one of our Grants for Good People, please email CampChaos37206@gmail.com to request an application.  If you let us know before you visit the vet, we can offer more assistance by telling you ways to save money while getting the animal vetted.

We do our best to loan out kennels to people in need, and we are in the process of rebuilding our stash.  We mostly have puppy/cat size.  We now require an application to borrow them since the honor system didn't really work and so many weren't returned to us.  Please email CampChaos37206@gmail.com if you are in need.

How We Spend the Money
Every $10 donated pays for a spay (for girls) or neuter (for boys), rabies shot, 7-way shot, & Frontline dose when we use Nashville Humane's low-cost program.  You, too, can use this fabulous program as long as you specify it is for a stray you are helping or you can show proof of low-income status.  Call 615.352.4030 for an appointment.  See the Resources tab for more information.

We purchase 5-way & bordetella  vaccines for approximately $200 from Jeffers Pet.  There are 25 of each, & shipping is $18-25 since they are shipped overnight on ice.

We use Drontal Plus or a generric substitute for worming all our dogs.  It costs $20-45 per dog depending on the pup's weight.  Puppies need 2-3 rounds, and adults need at least 1 round.

CC3 has been blessed with the Good People we have met in this crazy world of rescue.  We have been supported by so many through fostering, donations, & emotional support.  These Good People have a special place in our hearts, of course, and we love to help them when they & their animals are in need.  If CC3 doesn't have money to donate to their emergency, we pull it out of our own pocket.  It may not be a lot, but if everyone in the circle donated $5-20, the financial burden that comes with rescue would not be so overwhelming.  When you do donate to Camp Chaos 37206, rest assured your money is going to better the lives of our companion animals.

Peace.

Camp Chaos 37206:  A 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization
Minnie Pearl > Jolene (72):  Jolene & Luca checked into Camp together after being thrown from a moving pick-up truck Oct '08.  Good Samaritans took them to the vet where they were boarded while begging someone to take them.  Commander can't stand such utter disregard & inhumane treatment of dogs, by the way.  When he heard their story, he called to ask if we could take them.  That afternoon, they checked into Camp.  Jolene was heartworm positive & was treated while staying with a foster buddy where there would be less activity.  She graduated from Camp & was adopted February '09.  Jolene spends her spare time shopping, hanging out at the park, playing dress-up, & cuddling.
Happy Trails & Tales from The Campers of Chaos 37206
When a foster pup checks into Camp Chaos, or any foster home, a world of opportunity opens that  otherwise would be unavailable.  Take a look at the opportunities our Campers seized thanks to spending a little time at Camp Chaos.  Send an update & photo to CampChaos37206@gmail.com to share your happy tale!
Lincoln (78):  With his sisters, Tinkerbell & Toya, Lincoln checked into Camp Oct. '08 after being born on the streets to a feral mama.  In Feb. '09, Greg & Heather decided to adopt their first baby.  Thankfully Mickey's mom referred them to Camp Chaos, Lincoln was adopted, & now he's living his happily ever after!  Although he was born with multiple siblings, Lincoln enjoys being an only child.  His mom & dad spoil him with walks, wrestling, and trips to the dog park.  According to his mom's blog, he doesn't like the trips to Petsmart so much since the noises & strangers tend to scare him, but they don't let Lincoln miss out on the good things in life.
Toya (77): Lincoln's sister Toya was the least social of the siblings but we knew time, patience, & walks would do so much for her.  In April '09, Leslie & Steve decided their first child, Daisy, needed a playmate, & Toya was the lucky girl they wanted to add to their family.  Toya & Daisy became fast friends, enjoying days of playing, taking walks, & lots of cuddling.  People who have since seen them together tell us how much these 2 pups must love each other because they are inseparable.  While Toya doesn't like to admit it, she enjoys being petted & getting tummy rubs from her mommy!
Mickey (32):  In Feb. '08, the Chaos Crew rescued Mickey.  He lived under an abandoned home in East Nashville until then at 4 months old.  After living at Camp for 3 months, he was adopted in July '08 by a motivated & dedicated young lady named Carolyn.  With patience, love, & a jogging habit, she worked a miracle with him.  He now enjoys the dog park, hiking, & giving kisses!  It's always a treat when he comes to visit us.  Micks settles in with his ol' family like he never left!  He, to date, is the greatest success story we have with turning a semi-feral pup into a loving, friendly, & socialized companion!
Jada > Abby (79):  Abby found Capt Chaos on New Year's Day '09 in Kroger's parking lot.  Buy black-eye peas for luck in the New Year only to come home with Abby!  This girl got even luckier when her mom Anjie decided to adopt a pup to add to her family of kitty kiddies.  The home visit went well, despite her interest in the kitties!  With a hard-working mom, dedicated to keeping her family safe & happy, Abby hit jackpot!  This little nugget was the perfect fit & enjoys a golden life with regular exercise, lots of love, & training classes!  Her mom throws her birthday parties, too!
Lil Raleigh Pete (93): The 3rd RP was found by the interstate ramp in the 'hood March '09.  Commander brought him home & saved him from death by traffic.  I considered him a gift from Commander to Captain &, therefore, my puppy.  I knew there are so many to save, it wasn't realistic or fair to add him to the furever Campers of Chaos.  He instead had Precious Friends Puppy Rescue take him to North Shore Animal League on Long Island along with some of Tika's babies.  I wish we had a foster home so we could have ensured he found a wonderful home, but we don't always get what we want.  Therefore, I pray NSAL found him a fabulous indoor home with outdoor privileges.
Constantine > Tino (80):  Tino came to us Jan. 6, '09 after his savior found out Nashville Humane Association doesn't take bully breeds.  NHA made a call to us, & we took in the baby to keep him out of Animal Control &, therefore, alive.  Mr. C. was a firecracker ready for love.  He always had a ton of love to give to us or anyone who came to Camp, especially if their toes were exposed so he could lick them.  Thanks to Mutts4Rescue in Rhode Island, a wonderful family adopted Tino in June '09.  He loves his family that includes Bostons & Bullies both!
Trudy > Roxy (30):  Roxy was rescued after being dumped at the Community Market on Trinity Lane & living there for 4 months.  Thanks to donations from friends & personal credit cards, she received vaginal prolapse surgery as well as being spayed & vaccinated.  After recovering, Roxy was shy but eager to please.  Her fosters worked with Roxy so she would get in & out of cars, walk on a leash, & wag her bootie ALL THE TIME!  Those same great friends adopted her.  She now has a sister, Clarice, & they spend summers enjoying the lakes of Michigan & winter breaks plowing through Michigan's many feet of snow!
PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER!

Tiki > Tika (84):  Tika checked into Camp Feb. '09 from a high-kill shelter with her litter of 8 puppies.  After being a great mom to her babies, Tiki was spayed, socialized, & ready for her own furever family.  She was adopted April '09 by Sarah & Chris who wanted to make the rest of her life happily ever after.  This beautiful girl has had her last litter of puppies & has her very own parents to call her their baby!  Tika enjoys taking rides & long walks on scenic trails, playing catch in the backyard, & dreaming good ol' dog dreams when its naptime.
Raleigh Petey>RP (23): RP checked into Camp along with his mama & siblings Sept. '07 at 5 weeks old.  Ringworm kept him out of North Shore Animal League via Precious Friends; getting long bone inflammation after being adopted in New England got him returned to us, too.  In Dec. '08, after LBI cleared up, he was adopted by Roger & Erin who love him beyond belief.  He returns to Camp with his little sister Baylee often to see his biggest fans...Us!
Luca Brasi (71): Luca & Pearl > Jolene checked into Camp October '08.  They had been tossed out the window as a truck drove down the street.  He weighed 36 lbs, which means he literally was skin & bones  He & his mate were scraped, to say the least, & Luca endured staples on his crown from hitting the ground.  Despite the rough start, his spirits weren't dampened.  He enjoyed the company of fellow campers & learned to romp & play.  It was a joy to have him at Camp & we wish we had a farm so he could have been a Furever Camper.  But, the next best thing was Luca being adopted by Commander Chaos' parents & little sister May '09!  Now a resident of the Hamptons, Luca takes long walks with his Rottie sister Jessie, lounges on the deck, naps in the sunroom, & gets tons of love.  And he definitely doesn't worry about being underweight these days!
Bonnie, Samantha, & Clyde (100, 101, & 102):  These brave puppies were abandoned in the Captain's hometown July '09 & checked into Camp later that month, thanks to help from our foster buddies.  Precious Friends were able to get Bonnie & Clyde to North Shore Animal League for spay / neuter & adoptions even though they were a little older than the norm.  Bonnie stayed with a fantastic foster longer, which allowed us to get her spayed & then adopted through Mutts4Rescue in Dec. '09.  She is the apple of her mom & dad's eyes.
Frodo > Remington: (112): This sweet nugget was found by a wonderful animal control officer & nursed back to health Oct. '09.  After learning he was to be euthanized, we raised money to bail him out & brought him to Camp Nov. '09. Frodo's perfect parents found him & fell in love, especially after they met him!  Frodo graduated Jan. '10 & became Remington Chinaski, or Remi for short.  As he checked out of Camp, the little bugger pee-peed on our welcome mat. I think he was telling us he loves the family adopting him & he was ready to get outta dodge & get on with his life!
Samuel L. (64):  This little buddy checked into Camp after a Rottie rescue took him in to save him but had no room for him. Being a precious little boy had me in love with him immediately.  The fact that he was housetrained, social, & full of love made fostering him a breeze in the meantime.  With little dogs, the applications always arrive quickly with many people wanting to be chosen.  It's always hard deciding which family will gel best with a dog, but Samuel L. found the best home ever & now has a wonderful life of leisure.
Cloudia > Noele (111):  This big white beauty came to us from the hood Nov. '09.  Cloudia was covered in fleas, emaciated, but friendly & wanting to be treated with compassion & discipline.  A quick learner, she fit into our pack with no problems.  Cloudia was just happy to be here, folks.  Mutts4Rescue in Rhode Island found her furever family in no time.  Her name is now Noele & she gets tons of love from her mom & grandma.  As you can see from her photo, she is quite the super model & gets more beautiful by the day.
Petey (109):  In Oct. '09 when I told Springfield Animal Control CC3 would take Drizzle, they said, "Can you please take Petey, too? He's a Manchester Terrier mix & is out of time, just like Drizzle."  Thinking back, I remembered a great applicant looking for a small not-puppy.  After a few emails, his mom-to-be said she would love to save his life & adopt him sight-unseen.  Petey has a golden life now & enjoys romping & playing & loving life!  His mom is a great advocate to rescue who networks to connect Good People with pups in need.
Elvis (104): One day in Sept. '09 I was driving home & saw this beat-up & starving tiny guy on the sidewalk. When I stopped, he ran under the fence, back to his mama & 4 brothers. The next day found Commander & me at the house, vaccinating everyone & taking Tiny Elvis home with us.  He needed extra care being so malnourished & weak, but he was worth every ounce & then some.  He holds the title for "Most Loving Puppy Ever" for your Captain.  Thankfully East Nashvillians adopted him so we get to see him every now & then.  He hasn't gotten very big, but his love is large & his happiness is great!
Cletus (107):  Hands down, this litter of pups is the best I've ever met.  Quick to be potty trained & as loving as the day is long, these boys were perfect Campers while they awaited adoption.  Cletus, like Elvis, was adopted locally.  He has gotten even bigger & more beautiful than he was as a little fellow.  His sister Parker Posey & he love having each other to play with, take walks together, & go to doggie daycare at Red Rover.  He too gets the "Best Puppy Ever" title from his foster mom & dad!  At last sighting, Cletus has grown into a big, beautiful fluff bucket!
Baker & Saban (105 & 106): These 2 lovers were brothers to Cletus & Elvis.  2 fosters stepped up, but we only had a few weeks for them to live with their fosters.  In situations like this one, we were grateful to find temporary fosters, so no complaints about only having a few weeks.  Unlike Cletus & Elvis who stuck around while furever families were found locally, both Baker & Saban went to North Shore Animal League for neuter & adoption thanks to Precious Friends Puppy Rescue.
Party Girl > Tessa (46):  Party Girl came from Whites Creek Pike May '08. She & her sister Cheeky Monkey>Patticake were the last 2 of a large litter born to a feral mom.  She was adopted quickly by a great little family & named Tessa.  Oddly enough, Tessa was returned to us the first week, then she was taken back by the family the very next day.  I guess absence made the heart realize how much they loved her.  While her timidity was the issue, they decided she was worth the time & work
Kaiah (116):  Feb '10 brought Kaiah to Camp's favorite foster buddies. They were in the mood for puppy love & thankfully didn't mind the stink that came with her!  After a good bath, Kaiah was ready for adoption.  She was absolutely perfect in all of her white fluffiness.  In March, Kaiah was adopted and got 2 little girls of her very own.  While one of them wanted to name her Spot, she kept her name when she gained such a wonderful family with a big back yard and tons of love to give her.
Bobby McGee (40):  Commander Chaos & I were helping another rescue search for an abandoned Beagle Mama March '08 when we came upon this fluff bucket.  The sweet man said he was going to keep him for himself, which equaled his own chain & dog house, next to the other 3 dogs in the backyard, as soon as he got a little older.  While we in no way needed to bring him home, I ooh'ed & aah'ed over the puppy until the man let me have him.  Another special thanks goes out to our friend who fostered him & worked to find him a great family through Happy Tales April '08.
Turbo Dog (17):  Do you know what happens when people know you have taken in a stray?  That's right: they call you whenever they find a dog in need, want to give it to you without giving you any money to help care for it, then they tell their friends how they saved this dog.  Enter Turbo Dog into our home.  His neighbor got his previous owner to surrender him because he was left in his crate daily for 10-14 hour stretches.  He loved free reign of the home & his new playmates.  Turbo stayed with us a week or two before becoming Inspector Dave's newest best friend & sidekick.
Dingo Dog (39):  This little broken-tailed boy checked himself into Camp March '08.  He politely came to our fence & patiently waited to be let in the gate so he could join the pack.  We found out, thanks to ListServ, he had been living on the streets for a few weeks, a lady had been feeding him, but that was it.  He had been beaten up as could be seen by the cuts & bites.  The line, "The Dingo ate the baby!" never got old in the months he was with us.  Dingo Dog was a most grateful & easy Camper, getting vetted, neutered, & ready for adoption.  Dingo was adopted May '08 by a lovely lady looking for a buddy for her & her lab.
Lila (41):  There was a fluffy black girl living in Shelby Park for a few weeks in April '08 per some dog-walking friends.  Someone was putting kibble out & a bowl of water, but she wouldn't allow people to catch her.  Finally she was wrangled into our backyard where we could touch her.  Lila got a bath, some food & love, & an appointment to Nashville Humane Association.  Unfortunately we had too many dogs & there were no foster homes to keep her until we could get her spayed & adopted.  We do know that she got adopted quickly after hitting NHA's adoption floor later in April.
Buster Brown (44):  A friend of Camp Chaos came along this buddy on the first week of May '08 & another friend was able to foster him.  American Lab Rescue came to the rescue quickly!  Before we knew it there was an approved application followed by a great home visit.  Buster Brown was getting a golden ticket to a great home.   Buster went from living a scary life on the streets of Nashville to living with a mom & her young son in New England the last day of May '08.  If you ever win the lottery, be sure to give to www.AmericanLabRescue.com.
Lil Shylee > Scout (45):  Commander Chaos was sent on a mission the end of May '08 to save 2 puppies from Whites Creek Pike.  Our friend who came to help showed up with this little girl who she had found on the way.  Being the suckers that we are, we brought her home, too, being that the other option was the friend taking her to animal control.  She spent a few days with us but she, too, was going to have to go to Nashville Humane due to our huge number of dogs.  A foster took her, hired a trainer since she was her first foster, & was adopted by a neighbor!
Jack the Giant (48):  Poor Jack was so big at 10 months old that no one would take him in.  When we found him, he had been spreading his oats on Woodland St. while being fed by the neighbors.  We weren't equipped to bring him home considering we had just taken in 3 semiferal puppies, Beauty & her 10 puppies, not to mention our own dogs, but we couldn't leave him on the streets any longer.  Southern States Mastiff Rescue found a foster for him who decided they would take him to animal control because he wasn't a purebred mastiff.  SSMR worked for days before finally they could get him out of A/C.  I almost had a heart attack when I heard this part of his story after the fact, but the ending was happy.  SSMR miraculously found him a wonderful family who were eager for a big dog like Jack.
Beauty & her 10 Puppies (49-59):  Beauty had a litter of 10 in an abandoned garage off Lischey Ave.  A friend fed them after figuring out they were there, & we searched for a foster, but none came through.  So Beauty & the pups moved to Camp where they lived in our shed space.  It was a huge covered area for them with trellis around it.  It worked while we found 2 homes to keep the puppies & Beauty stayed with us until we found a friend who had an 8' fence; she kept climbing ours for jaunts through the park and that's no good.  Of her puppies, 6 went to North Shore Animal League via Precous Friends.  The remaining 4, including Dempsey, Delta, Darby, & Dash were adopted thanks to our friend who fostered for Happy Tales.
Gill & Neville (61 & 62):  .
Moxie > Daisy (65):  This sweet girl spent her first 3 years living on a chain that typically was wrapped around her doghouse.  Thankfully she had an advocate in family who found us, but the burden of finding a foster almost got the best of your Captain.  After many weeks, we finally found her a foster home.  When she was freed from her chain, I cried like a baby.  Daisy now is an AKC Good Citizen!  Daisy will spend her day splashing around in the wading pool, avoiding rooms with ceiling fans, & enjoying a game of chase with other pups.  Much to brother Colt's dismay, she doesn't like to wrestle.  We love seeing her family on their walks around East Nashville.
Benny (63): Captain Chaos went to Nashville's fantastic animal control to adopt a Westie that a friend wanted for her elderly inlaws.  The Westie had been adopted, but permission was granted from Commander to adopt a dog.  Our friends at A/C said Benny had been there so long & he was the best little man ever.  We were asked to find him a home since over a month there hadn't landed him one.  Of course, the Captain obliged. With rotten teeth, though, Benny had about $500 of necessary vetting. After a few weeks at Camp, his infection was gone, he was short 4 teeth, but he was healthy & happy & so well behaved.  Benny was adopted by one of our foster's friends. While he wasn't looking to adopt a dog, he met Benny & realized his life wouldn't be complete without Benny.  We smile & know the money & time was well worth it everytime we see Benny & his dad walking in the 'hood or enjoying time at Bongo Java.
Sailor Boy (27):  .
Ziggy (60):  Ziggy & his siblings were born at a mobile-home park on the outskirts of Atlanta.  They were rescued by a lovely young lady who wanted to teach her children a life-long lesson about love & compassion.  She found us & asked if we could help just one of the 7 & Mr. Ziggy reminded us of our cattle dog Georgie Girl with his wonky ears & beautiful eyes.  He checked into Camp July '08 where he was pals with the pups until he was adopted at Christmastime.  Not only did Ziggy get the best home ever with a 4-legged big brother & a 2-legged sister, but also Camp Chaos was happy to now have a bakery connection since his new parents own Dulce Desserts!  And Captain Chaos gives a very heartfelt & deserved, "Sweet!"
Brandie (66):  .
Talia (75):  Oh, heartbreak just seeing her face.  We found Talia as we drove home from downtown one early Nov' 08 day.  She was the sweetest & gentlest girl from the beginning.  Talia lived with foster buddies for weeks until we had home visits for her.  The second home visit equalled an adoption.  It was only a few months later that we were emailed she had been hit by a car & killed.  The front door wasn't latched, no one was supervising her, & Talia went outside & into the street.  Our beautiful blue girl had her life cut short due to, well, an accident.  Rest in peace, sweet Talia.
Lollie Pop > Molly (69):  A foster friend of a friend found this girl abandoned at a Springfield gas station Oct. '08.  Loving this friend & wanting to help, we took Lollie into Camp to find her a furever home, which didn't take long!  She got a stupendously fantastic home.  With a new name & a new family, Molly keeps her home lively & ensures there's always kisses to share!  Oddly enough, while she was crazy energetic at Camp, she is calm & cool as a cucumber at her new home!
Little Lily (103):  The story behind this muppet is on the down low.  It's so super secret, I could tell you but I'd have to kill you.  Lily checked into Camp after our sister-in-law fell in love with her photo on a Facebook post.  I have great love for my in-laws & therefore did super secret stuff to get Lily safe & sound with us.  After a little vetting & some time with us, Lily made the big trip North to the Hamptons.  Her mom is absolutely in love with Lily-kins & they are inseparable when home.  Granted, her 4-legged siblings may be jealous, but Lily & her mom are happy as can be!
Indie (110): This girl came from Florence AL all the way to Nashville Nov. '09! Friends there made sure animal control didn't euthanize her while friends here decided they could foster her.  Indie was quick to love but very submissive.  Obviously her background involved abuse or just little human contact.  Whichever it was, Indie had issues to overcome, but she was such an appreciative girl, all she wanted was to hang out with her people & never be left alone.
Skippy (81):  Captain Chaos received a call Jan '09 from a man who had found a dog with a rabies tag for us.  While a small black poodle was no dog we had ever fostered, we went for it anyway.  After many phone calls with animal control & vets we had used, we found out the vet who gave another dog a rabies shot put our info on someone else's dog.  We lost sleep all night thanks to this little guy barking solidly while in the crate, then he went to Caudle Vet who had given the rabies shot the following day so he could be returned to his rightful owner.  Unfortunately that is one night I will never get back.
Friday > Shelby (82): I took a day off for my birthday Feb '09.  As I was enjoying my coffee & watching the dogs play out the kitchen windows, I noticed a dog waiting on the grass knoll of the park.  Another sweet, scared dog abandoned equals a new Camper.  She was adopted by a lovely East Nashville couple & has a big brother.  Her family calls her Shelby since it was that park where she was left to fend for herself, which happened to be the first day of the rest of her wonderful life!
Sunday (96):  Oh the heartache when I see this goofy little girl staring back at me.  On this one beautiful Sunday in June '09, my dogs started barking at the back gate to let me know we had a visitor.  I hoped for a 2-legged visitor, but I was pretty sure it wasn't, and I was right.  In walks Sunday.  She was a feisty little ham, but she was housetrained & social with our kids, plus she was a beautiful little dog who would be easy to get adopted.  All was well in the world.  Less than a week later, Adelade arrived at the back gate to check herself into Camp.  A decision had to be made.  We couldn't keep them all.  Thus, the most adoptable, smallest, cutest pup had to go to Nashville Humane Association.  It hurt my heart to not know who would adopt her or what her outcome would be, but she was the only small-breed, not-black, under-6-years-old dog we had.  If you adopted her from NHA in June/July '09, can you please send us an email?
Daisy (68): This girl was lucky enough for us to find a weekend foster Dec '08.  She had no experience with bullies, was a bit uncertain about the breed, but wanted to help this little pup. Quickly Daisy showed her now-furever-Mom what joyful living was all about.  More than a year later, this 70-lb bundle of joy keeps her mom smiling  & laughing with her goofiness & never-ending supply of love.  We love getting reports from her mom, telling us of her snuggles & sighs that tell her, "Oh, Momma, I love you!"
Taco Bell (26):  Nov '07 found me walking home from Shelby Dog Park with our 3 dogs to find a Manchester Terrier hanging out in the parking lot.  Multiple people said he'd been there all day, trying to go home with people.  My friend was also there with his dog; I begged him to take the babe home since he only had 1 dog & we had  9 dogs & my husband would kill me if I brought home another dog.  My friend said no regardless of my bribes and simultaneously dropped many notches on my friend list.  After getting the little guy to follow me home, I made an emergency call to my real friend who was able to foster Taco Bell.  He found a fantastic home thanks to Happy Tales.
Mini Me Max > Frankie (29):  Frankie was a refugee at Camp for a night.  We already had too many dogs.  I was sick.  I took off work to figure out what I was going to do.  I was grateful he was at least intake-able due to breed by Happy Tales or NHA.  But I was even more grateful to hear someone calling for their lost dog, though.  Despite my gratitude, that person got a lecture on the importance of having an ID tag on their dog as well as not coming home drunk, leaving the gate open, and allowing their dog to roam the neighborhood.
Pauly (31):  My heart still breaks when I think of Pauly dog or see his photo.  He & his brother Mickey have been our greatest success story, being caught in Feb '08 after living under a run-down, abandoned house at an age that made socializing them questionable.  Even the trainer said they might or might not be able to become comfortable & social dogs.  Pauly turned around quickly & was the perfect & most beautiful puppy thanks to our foster buddy.  He was adopted June '08.  After 2 weeks at his new home, we received a call that their adult female dog had broken his neck & killed him.  They left them together, unkenneled, while they weren't home.  We cried for days over the loss of the perfect little boy that died a cruel & unnecessary death.  I swore I would never adopt out another dog, we would keep all of our fosters & never take in another because it was impossible to ensure a dog's safety when it was up to someone else to keep them safe.  But here we are, more than 2 years later, still mourning his loss, but moving forward with our mission to help dogs in need.  Rest in peace, sweet boy, Pauly.  I am sorry your life was cut so short.
One, Two, Three, & Four (33-36):  A call from a friend landed this litter with a friend of Camp who graciously fostered them while they awaited their intake date with Precious Friends.  Commander wouldn't allow me to name them since it would mean they may stay with us longer!  Their fosters did name them, Crocket, Tubbs, Maurice, & Ginger. Not only were we able to connect Good People & save these pups, but the mama dog's owner got her spayed, vaccinated, wormed, & learned how to better care for his dog.
Brownie & Black & Tan (37 & 38):  Camp Chaos didn't do much for these 2 pups other than connect Good People Feb '08, which is a lot when there are so few fosters for so many dogs in need.  They were from different moms but saved by our friend simultaneously being that they were living at the same place.  Brownie found a home through Happy Tales.  Black & Tan>Cassie was adopted by a friend.
LolliePop>Molly, Boston Terrier. Adopted 11/08
Before there were Campers of Chaos (1-2):  We moved to East Nashville 37206 Jan '07.  Within a week, I was picking up a dog at the shady grocery store on Shelby.  She was small, cute, & frumpy, like a mini-Romi.  Commander Chaos wasn't happy with my find, to say the least.  The next day, we took her to Nashville Humane who charged us the $15 intake fee even though the owner had called looking for Benji & was coming to fetch her.  Not cool in my book.  A few weeks later on Feb 15 '07, Willie Nelson showed up at our door.  I brought him in, bathed him to get rid of the fishy smell, but it didn't work.  Romi hated him & so did Commander Chaos, thus I put him on our unfenced front porch in hopes his owner would find him.  Instead our neighbors took him into their backyard, called him Buddy, & kept him until his appointment with Nashville Humane 2 weeks later.  It is thanks to them that we learned what to do when a stray arrives:  bring it in, DON'T later let it out just because it's an irritating new dog (key step), & find a rescue to help.
Coal Porter (14): This is what happens when  amateurs breed their newspaper-bought purebred dog to make extra money.  Puppies end up getting big without being sold.  They get zero training & little socializing because amateurs don't have time for that.  I mean, the mom is typically on a chain or in a pen, so puppies running around in the dirt rather than being an indoor companion isn't a big deal to them.  Some amateurs at least contact a rescue--rather than dumping them on the roadside--when they can't sell all of the puppies.  God bless American Lab Rescue for saving such puppies.  Coal spent some time with us then made his way to New England where he has a mom, dad, & 2 of the 2-legged siblings.
Chadwick (15): After American Lab Rescue [ALR] were so good to Waylon & us in finding him a perfect home, we wanted to give back by fostering.  Chadwick came from a high-kill shelter in Louisiana.  He was our first experience with destroyed personal items, like Commander Chaos' work Blackberry.  Fury filled the house, Chadwick went to doggie daycare, & we learned a few calming techniques which allowed Chadwick to come home after only a couple of hours.  Not only did ALR not black-ball us from fostering, but more importantly we as fosters learned how to handle the first of many deaths to things we love & needed, as well as not leave those items within dog-reach!
Rico>Jack (24): Jack, brother to Mojo & RP, was a tiny crybaby at 5 weeks old.  At 12 weeks old, he was diagnosed with long-bone inflammation & were advised to euthanize him.  That was not an option.  When the LBI cleared, he was a playful, pain-free puppy.  At 6 months old, American Lab Rescue found him a great home in CT.  Jack is growing up with his best friend, Luke.  He has the longest legs & a beautiful sleek coat.  His family reports that he is the sweetest & most loving & gentle goofball, which seems to run in the family!  Jack's favorite spot is in the sandbox next to Luke.
Lela>Gracie (13):  Lela the Labradoodle was found by Nashville's animal control 4th of July weekend '07.  She & her brother were running down I-40 when they were pinched & taken to doggie jail.  Sad but true, this dynamic duo had no one looking for them.  He was adopted in no time while she was left for weeks, posted as "Tom Seleck" & a boy.  Thanks to American Lab Rescue, I was able to pay for her pull fee, get her vetted, then transport her to New England where she lives a few blocks from the beach with her retired parents.  Now called Queen Gracie, like a good now-Irish lady should be, she enjoys long walks, swimming in the ocean, & playing with the grandkids.
Mojo (21): Commander Chaos started taking more pics of Mojo than his siblings, Rico, Elvis, & RP, & it was obvious he was bonding with the tubby little fellow.  2 months after checking into Camp, Commander asked if Mojo could be a permanent Camper, and this Captain wasn't telling him no!  Mojo weighs 82 lbs at 2 years old & resembles a pony moreso than a puppy dog.  He is the only boy in the CC3 pack, but he loves having little foster buddy boys check in or his brother RP visit.  Currently the Commander is teaching Mojo to track & rescue.
Drizzle > Greta (108)  Drizzle was in Springfield Animal Control Oct. '09.  I found her on Petfinder when I was looking for an approved applicant a puppy.  Her beauty got my attention, & she checked into Camp a few days later.  Drizzle was discovered by her new mommy a few weeks later.  She got a new home, a new mommy, & great new name, too, Greta! We love it when our pups get a good WSP name!
Lady > Sadie (18):  Lady was one of the many pregnant dogs on the streets before checking into Camp, before Camp was even 'Camp.'  Maybe life as an indoor pet never began or ended when it became too messy or inconvenient.  Camp Chaos was born Sept. '07 when we heard Lady was living under a house with her 4-week-old pups.  Jack, RP, Mojo, Elvis, & Baby Pooh (below) are her babies.  Thanks to the ne'er-do-wells who allowed Lady's life to be challenged, Camp Chaos has helped 100+ puppy dogs.  Thanks to American Lab Rescues' perseverance & dedication, Sadie now lives on a farm in New England with her brothers & sisters that include dogs, horses, cats, & even a sister of the 2-legged type!
Adelade (97):  This sweet old girl is 1 of the many who was dumped in the park & made her way to our fence.  She was easily leashed & brought into the holding area at Camp, aka our bathroom, on a hot Tuesday morning in June '09.  With mammaries hanging low & teeth broken & discolored, I gave her a name I had been reserving for a special dog, 1 that would be with us longer than a few days.  We both knew she wasn't going to be adopted quickly, if ever, thus she was named Adelade.  Various visits to the vet for different reasons didn't bother Addie.  Meeting our pack didn't bother her too badly either & quickly she became a favorite Camper of dogs & visitors alike.  An oldie but a goodie, Adelade graced our home with her presence until early November '09. Being unspayed for so long & having so many litters of puppies took its toll long before we got her.  Breast cancer was found & within a couple of weeks, my sweet & loving Adelade had to be released from this life.  Rest in peace, my dear friend.
Big Mama (99): Big Mama came to Camp after  being rescued from a country road with her litter of puppies.  July '09 found this sweet ol' girl needing someone to love.  In Sept. '09, a wonderful young couple & their 2 year old son, Peyton met her & fell in love, just like we did.  Her new Mama is her best friend, & they go everywhere together.  Big Mama already enjoys being pampered with paw-dicures & her new favorite color is pink.  She of course wears it well, sporting collars with matching hats, jackets, & sometimes shoes.  For holidays, Big Mama wears her holiday cheer with a big smile, then comes home for sweet dreams next to her favorite people.
Big Mama > Karma (133):  .
Tolliver (85):  He was sick when he arrived at Camp with his mom Tika & siblings.  A vet visit that night told us it was parvo & he wasn't going to be able to make it.  Rest in peace, sweet baby.
Bridgit (113):  Bridgit was found Dec '09 by a young couple down on their luck but not willing to give up on this sweet girl who needed a hand.  They needed help with getting her injured ear fixed as well as finding her a safe place.  While Bridgit had to be boarded for a few weeks, a lovely lady named Sherry in Maryland took her into her rescue and found Bridgit a forever home.  Here she is seen riding to the transport that was going to deliver her happily ever after.
Tootsie (86):  This sweet girl had a few days of love at the foster home before she broke with parvo.  Tootsie never left the vet & lost her fight to parvo on the 7th day.  I still am baffled as to how I don't have a photo of her.  She was a beautiful blue merle, like Tuppence.
Tattoo (89):  Tattoo was taken to the vet with Tempe & Teddy.  He came home 1st & stayed with friend who had kitties.  His pal was a 24 lb kitty named Chaplin!  He went North via Precious Friends.
Tuppence (88):  Our little blue merle girl was a delight.  She was the only 1 not to catch parvo.  She spent time with foster buddies prior to going North with Tattoo, Tallulah, & Lil Raleigh Pete.
Teddy (92):  This precious boy was our heartbreak.  Our Teddy beat parvo & was healthy.  Then he was neutered & never awoke.  Rest in peace, Teddy.  You were the sweetest & most beautiful boy.
Tempe (91):  She was at the vet the day after arrival being treated for parvo.  She grew into a beautiful little girl & found a wonderful home through Happy Tales thanks to her foster mom's perseverance!
Clemenza (121):  .
Bear (119):  This little pup was fostered by adopters.  We got her on St. Patrick's Day in March '10 from Good People who found her.  To us, she was a Rottweiler/Shepherd mix.  Needless to say when the vet said she would be a 25-30 lb adult dog, everyone was stunned.  Obviously she wasn't an 8 week old puppy when she checked into Camp!  Baby Bear is a beautiful little girl who loves to jog with her mom.  She's a bit shy with strangers, but it doesn't stop her from being a happy & healthy pup.  We luckily get to keep up with her since she lives in the neighborhood.
Cheeky Monkey > Patticake (47):  On May 22, 2008, the story of Patticake began with the name of Cheeky Monkey.  We had a couple of friends who fostered her, but it didn't work.  She was afraid of everyone.  Never having human contact & being rescued at 12 weeks old affects a pup that way.  While we didn't have the time to devote to get her socialized, it beat the alternative (euthanasia).  PC would just live with us, hopefully finding a home, but if not, that was fine, too.   In Oct '09, she took a trip to New England where she was called Priscilla by her new family.  Despite their desires, she was the same frightened dog there as she was at Camp.  They found out the hard way that a semi-feral dog requires a lot of work. Therefore, Patticake found herself making the 18 hour trek back to Nashville 6 months later. Her timidity had worsened, but we had plenty of patience to give her.  She was so happy from the second she arrived!  She went around to all of her old pals, giving kisses & wagging her whole body. This time around, we forced her to take walks with us.  She found new hobbies she enjoyed like playing catch.  In Dec '09, Patticake learned a new trick: jumping the backyard fence.  She was hit by a car & spent 3 weeks with VCA in Mt. Juliet.  The silver lining was the forced socialization, being touched & fed by random, loving people throughout the day.  She still has a little limp after losing a toe, ligaments, & tendons, but she is no worse for the wear.  Commander Chaos calls her our 'half dog' meaning she is adoptable but she's been with us for so long that it's as if she's one of our own!
Tippi (90):  Tippi had parvo like all the others.  She was one of the bigger pups & enjoyed playtime with her siblings & foster pals.  She was a great puppy who was quickly adopted through Happy Tales.
Tallulah (87):  Miss Tallulah stayed with our kitty friend after she was cleared from parvo.  Adopters wanted her but not for 3 weeks & we couldn't keep her that long.  She went North via Precious Friends, too.
Elvis (20):  Another brother to Mojo, Elvis was the runt of the litter.  When they checked into Camp on Sept 28, '07, they were 4-5 weeks old at best guess.  Mojo weighed 5 lbs & Elvis weighed 2.5 lbs.  Elvis had ringworm, which is actually a fungus & not a worm, that prevented the pups from checking into Precious Friends Puppy Rescue.   While he has grown up big & strong, our little buddy was spoiled rotten .  Elvis was adopted & lives in Connecticut thanks to American Lab Rescue.
Carly > Daphney (16): Carly is what happens when someone new to rescue reads the rescue boards.  She was in a high-kill Georgia shelter & had to get out asap.  American Lab Rescue said they would find her a home & pay for her pull fees.  I learned with this girl that many shelters, while they want us to save the dog, they also use vets that charge exorbitant fees to vet the dog prior to letting them be pulled.  I don't know how ALR still deals with me after the 'help' as a foster I have offered, but I am so grateful they do.  Now Miss Daphney, our sweet beauty has an awesome family who enjoys hiking & jogging!
Bus-Stop Abe (28):  Like his name implies, this terrier mix was found at the bus stop in the 'hood as the Captain drove home from work.  While I thought he was a delightful addition who really put the 'chaos' into our name, no one else was quite as excited about his presence.  He was 1 of our 1st rescues, & our pack hadn't embraced the idea of accepting everyone.   Thanks to a friend who fostered with Happy Tales, Bus-Stop Abe checked out of Camp & into their adoption program.  His fosters loved him so much that they adopted him for themselves!  This was the first foster homes of many we ruined by having fabulous dogs!

Tulip > Lilly (127):  Driving home from work one August '10 day, I found a sweet, scared girl at the entrance to Shelby Park.  With the help of tortillas, she let me leash her & take her home.  I named her Tulip.  Since she was a girl, I just didn't feel right about naming her Townes, which was next on my list.  Tulip was a happy Camper who loved being part of the pack.  Thanks to our friends at Mutts4Rescue, now-called Lilly found a great home with a new brother who was adopted from a shelter up North where she now lives.
Willa Puppet > Koli (126):  .
A Litter of 9 Puppies (3-11):  March '07 found us at the dog park 7am on a Monday morning.  As we had our coffee & watched our 3 girls run, a ne'er-do-well pulled into the parking lot, lost our attention, & then left 9 little puppies behind our car with a butter bowl of beans & cornbread.  Not only were they puppies, which even the Grinch couldn't leave alone, but it was a record-breaking cold day.  After making a call to the office to let them know I'd be late, Commander walked our dogs home & I drove home with a backseat full of shivering puppies.  Nashville Humane took all for intake except 1, Fluff Bucket > Diego.  Greta, Batman, & Yogi were with us longer than the rest since we had to have 2 intake appointments.  Greta would have become a furever pup if Georgie Girl wouldn't have joined us from animal control 2 weeks prior.  Since then, we don't give large-breed puppies to NHA for fear that someone will adopt them only to have them become yard dogs.  While it takes time, work, & money, it has been worth it to ensure that our little ones get their happily ever after.
Missy/Girlie>Baby Pooh (19): Missy was Commander's name for her, which I couldn't say due to braces, so I called her Girlie. Our vet tech decided her son & her boy dog needed a little girl.  After being at Camp for a week, she was adopted & renamed Baby Pooh.  While she never grew larger than 20 lbs, she got extra-large love & care!
Tinkerbell > Ellie Mae (76):  Tink was a little bigger than Lincoln & Toya, her siblings.  She was with our best puppy foster who knew how to give dedicated cuddle time, which was needed since they were born on the streets to a feral mom.  Tinkerbell was a playful yet calm little nugget who loved other dogs.  Tinkerbell became Ellie Mae after a lovely family adopted her.  She has a big brother that she adores.  Oh, and with patience & time, she of course grew to love affection from her people!
Blackjack > Big Papi (137):
Maggie > Kona (140):  Maggie was found by Good People in Sewanee.  She made her way to Nashville through one of their friends who is an avid dog lover & savior.  She was a tiny thing, maybe 6-7 weeks old when she checked into Camp Feb '11.  While her playmate Betty was much bigger than her, she overcame the fear of playing with her quickly.  Then she became the scrappiest, spunkiest puppy ever!  Maggie was extra smart then & continues to be a great pup for her new family in Pennsylvania who named her Kona!  She was adopted by friend's of Lincoln's mom & dad.  Kona is our first adoption with the help of Skyping!
Aida (128):  .
Nikki > Marley (139):  Marley checked into Camp Jan. 21, 2011 after being abandoned in an East Nashville yard.  She wasn't in bad shape, but she needed some TLC & training, which her new family has been happy to provide!  She & her big brother Kaiser enjoy week days at doggie daycare & week ends at the lake (weather permitting).  Marley, also known as Ziggy Smalls, Kibbles & Bits, and Bitsy Boo) is quite the water dog & enjoys floating on her raft as well as hanging out on the boat.  This little nugget was so lucky to find such a wonderful family to love & care for her, and they think they are so lucky to have found her! It's a win-win for Marley, her family, & CC3!

Dashiel, Mason, & Sampson (122, 123, 124):  These beautiful little labbies were found by 2 high school girls May '10.  We agreed to take them to keep them out of animal control & get a much-needed puppy fix.  Dashiel stayed at Camp while Mason & Sampson went to our foster buddy's.  These were 3 of the sweetest & best behaved little ones.  It was a joy to get to keep them safe & give them love while they awaited their appointment with Precious Friends Puppy Rescue, the middle point to North Shore Animal League on Long Island.

Short-Timer > Milo: Short-Timer was at 1700 Forrest in East Nashville.  While I knew Commander Chaos was going to be irked to say the least, I couldn't leave him there.  He had a collar but no tags.  I guess his owners thought he would learn to talk if he ever got lost.  Thanks to East Nashville List Serve, his parents were found & Short-Timer--actual name Milo--went home the same day (hence no # next to his name) after the "PUT A FRIGGIN' TAG ON YOUR DOG!" lecture.
Winston (70):  This little boy was found in Cleveland Park walking down the sidewalk way too young to be walking around alone!  A kind person took him in & contacted us.  Winston was maybe 5 weeks old when he checked into Camp.  Thankfully, our fabulous foster friend Beth was happy to foster a puppy & give him everything he needed!  He learned puppy manners, basic commands, & got lots of love, too.  Winston was quickly adopted by a man who was looking for a best friend & baby.
Laney Belle (115):  In Jan '10 there was an ice storm in Nashville.  Laney was pushed from a moving car 2 days prior.  Good people who saw it brought her a dog house, blankets, food, & reached out for help immediately, knowing she wouldn't make it when the cold came.  Commander Chaos came to the rescue, picking her up as the snow started to fall.  Laney was treated for heartworms before adoption which gave her time to learn that people will love her & protect her rather than hurt her.  She was adopted to a lovely family of 6 that includes --as you can see by the photo--a little girl who considers Laney her very own fairy princess!
